How to Customize Columns on SmartRoutes Screens

Learn how to customize columns on SmartRoutes screens, add, remove, and reorder fields on tables like Orders and Route view, with your layout saved automatically.

SmartRoutes lets you customize the columns you see on key tables and screens, so you can keep the most important information visible and in the order that suits your workflow.

You can add or remove columns and drag them into a new sequence, and your layout is remembered the next time you log in.

Where you can customize columns

The column picker appears wherever you see a small cog/gear icon on the top of a table or list. Clicking this icon opens the column picker for that screen.

You’ll see it in places like:

  • Orders: when viewing your orders list.
  • Customers: when viewing your customer list.
  • Live dashboard/Route view: when you click into a route and see the list of stops or orders on that route.

Anywhere this cog appears, you can customize the columns for that particular table.

Step 1: Open the column picker

  1. Go to the screen you want to customize (for example Orders).
  2. Look for the cog/gear icon near the table header.
  3. Click the icon to open the column picker.

The column picker shows all available columns for that screen and lets you choose which ones appear and in what order.

Step 2: Add or remove columns

Inside the column picker you can control which columns are visible:

  • To show a column:
    • Find the column in the picker list and turn it on (or tick/select it, depending on the control).
    • The column will appear in the table once you save or close the picker.
  • To hide a column:
    • Turn the column off (or untick/deselect it).
    • The column will no longer appear in the table.

This is useful if you want to hide fields you rarely use, or surface extra fields that are important for your operation (for example order date, customer reference, or capacity).

Step 3: Reorder columns with drag and drop

You can also change the order of columns to bring critical information closer to the left-hand side of the table, where you see it first.

  1. In the column picker, click and hold the column you want to move.
  2. Drag it to a new position in the list (for example, move Order Date closer to the top).
  3. Release to drop it in place.

When you return to the table:

  • The columns will appear in the new sequence you set.
  • For example, if Order Date is most important, you can drag it to the far left so it becomes the first column you see.

You can repeat this for as many columns as you need to build a layout that matches how you read the data.

Once you’ve chosen and reordered your columns, the layout is saved to your user view.
