How to Send Live Tracking Links to Your Customers

Learn how to easily send live tracking links to your customers through email or SMS notifications, keeping them informed about their delivery's real-time location.

Let’s get you set up to send tracking links in notifications to your customers. It’s a quick and simple process!

Step 1: Open the Notifications Tab

Start by navigating to the Notifications tab on the left-hand menu in your SmartRoutes dashboard. Here, you can create and customize notifications for your customers.

Step 2: Create a New Email or SMS Template

To send tracking links, you'll need to create a new Email or SMS template. Within the template editor, under ‘variables’ option you can add dynamic information such as tracking links, delivery details, and customer names.

Select the ‘Tracking Link’ variable from the list.

Once you’ve set up the template, toggle on the ‘out for delivery’ notification and select the template you just made.

Your customers will receive a notification that looks something like this:

When they open the message, they’ll find a live tracking link. Clicking on it will bring them to a map where they can see the delivery vehicle’s real-time location.

By sending live tracking links, your customers will have up-to-date information on their delivery’s progress. This helps:

  • Reduce customer inquiries about ETAs
  • Minimize missed deliveries
  • Improve the overall delivery experience
